Recipient Upgrade lets recipients add their own funds to claim a gift that exceeds the value the sender originally sent. For example, if someone receives a $100 Gift of Choice and has their eye on a $350 Ooni pizza oven, they can pay the $250 difference and get exactly what they want — at no extra cost to the sender.

Recipient Upgrade is available on all plans and works alongside the swap feature when prices are shown.

## For Senders

### How to enable Recipient Upgrade

1.  When creating a gift, turn on **Swap** and set it to show prices to your recipient.
2.  Enable **Recipient Upgrade** in the gift settings.
3.  Send your gift as usual.

Recipients will see a toggle in the swap store to browse gifts above your original gift value, and can use the price filter to find exactly what they want.

### What do you pay?

You only pay for the gift value you originally sent — the recipient covers any amount above that. Your spend in Reports and on receipts reflects only your original gift value.

### Does this work with Collections and Autogifting?

Yes — Recipient Upgrade is available for Collections and Autogifting when prices are shown and the gift is set to amount mode.

## For Recipients

### How to Upgrade a gift

1.  Open your gift and select **Swap** to browse the gift store.
2.  Toggle the option to **see gifts above your gift value**, or use the price filter to browse a custom range.
3.  Select the item you want. If it exceeds your gift value, you'll see the amount you'll be charged.
4.  Enter your payment details at checkout and complete your order.
5.  You'll receive a receipt confirming both the sender's contribution and your payment, plus shipping and tracking notifications as normal.

### Is the processing fee charged to recipients?

No — recipients are not charged the processing fee.

### Do I have to upgrade?

Not at all. Recipient Upgrade is completely optional. You can always choose any gift at or below the original value at no cost to you.
